Liquid latex

Natural materials such as cork are best bonded together using carefully selected products. We often reach for the first adhesive at hand, but the truth is that not every glue is suitable for this type of surface. A random choice often results in poor effect, rework, and wasted material. Liquid Latex is a convenient and practical solution for bonding cork surfaces (and more besides). You can use it for creative and decorative projects – read on and discover where else it comes in handy!

FAQ – Natural Liquid Latex

WHAT IS LIQUID LATEX USED FOR?

This is a specialist product used primarily for bonding natural materials such as cork. It allows surfaces to be joined quickly and neatly – the adhesive has an open working time of approximately 15 minutes. The product is available in a range of sizes.

WHAT MATERIALS CAN LATEX GLUE BE USED ON?

Liquid latex works exceptionally well for bonding materials such as:

  • natural cork,
  • leather,
  • felt,
  • foam,
  • natural materials,
  • shoe insoles.

Please note that fabric, unlike synthetic leather, may let liquid latex pass through.

For the best results, the bonded elements should be pressed together and left to dry completely (in accordance with the product application guidelines).

DOES LATEX REPLACE CONTACT ADHESIVE?

No, liquid latex works differently from traditional contact adhesive.

Contact adhesives are mainly used for installing surfaces such as cork panels, cork tiles, wall coverings, or flooring. They are best suited for applications where a durable bond to everyday wear is essential.

Liquid latex, on the other hand, is best used for bonding materials such as cork, fabrics, or foam together. It is ideal for precise, creative, and decorative work where a neat, aesthetically pleasing finish matters more than structural installation.

HOW SHOULD LATEX ADHESIVE BE APPLIED?

We recommend using a brush or a dedicated spray gun. Keep in mind that this is a liquid material – it may drip and stain surfaces. If this happens, it is best to remove it immediately with water.

Before use, it is also worth reading the instructions carefully and testing the product on a small section of the material first.

HOW SHOULD LIQUID LATEX BE STORED?

It is best stored in a cool, dry place in a tightly sealed container. When stored correctly, it retains its properties for approximately 12 months. Be sure to protect the latex from freezing – as this is a water-based adhesive, it will no longer be suitable for use once frozen.

Liquid latex is a fast-bonding adhesive recommended primarily for use with natural materials. It works exceptionally well when bonding materials such as natural cork and leather. It can also be used to join elements made from felt, PU foam, or cardboard. Thanks to its liquid formula, the adhesive spreads easily across the surface and, once dry, creates a flexible bond. This is why it is so widely used in leathercraft, footwear manufacturing, as well as in arts, crafts, and model making. It can also be used for theatrical make-up and special effects work, for example when creating artificial wounds or skin-like effects.
