How many times have you trimmed the material just to make it “sort of fit”? Probably too many—only to end up with a result that was far from perfect. Rigid sheets won’t fill gaps or blend with plaster. Granulated cork does exactly what those can’t: it adapts. You simply pour it where needed—no cutting, no faffing about. Adaptable, lightweight, and natural cork in a convenient granulated form.

You probably have a few questions – we’ve prepared the answers!
WHAT IS GRANULATED CORK?
It’s natural cork in a crushed form. The grains are light brown, earthy in colour, and have a porous texture. They’re adaptable, durable, and dust-free. This form of natural cork offers far greater versatility—you can pour it, fill gaps, and shape it as needed. In other words, you can do things that simply aren’t possible with sheets or rolls.
WHAT IS GRANULATED CORK USED FOR?
Granulated cork has a wide range of applications across various industries:
- Construction and industry: as an additive for lightweight concrete, thermal insulating plasters, adhesive composites, or even foundations.
- Insulation: ideal for filling cavity walls, improving their insulating properties.
- Reinforced composite cores: used as a lightweight, flexible core in, for example, cabins and specialist vehicle interiors.
- Furniture-making: as an eco-friendly filling for pouffes and armchairs.
- Footwear: used to make soles and insoles.
- Sports and surfaces: as a filler for punching bags, balls, shooting rests, and shuttlecocks. It’s also used as an eco-friendly infill for sports surfaces, cushioned playground bases, and fake beach settings.
- Horticulture: when mixed into soil, it improves aeration and structure.
- Modelling and crafts: mimics gravel, rocks, or crushed stone – ideal for models, nativity scenes, and decorations. Also used as a lightweight sand imitation in theatre and opera scenery.
- Terrarium keeping: a natural, safe substrate for terrariums.
- Spill clean-up: often used for cleaning up oil spills.
DOES THE GRANULATED CORK HAVE A SAFETY CERTIFICATE?
Yes, it holds an official hygiene certificate issued by the National Institute of Public Health in Poland (PZH). This confirms that the granules are completely safe for skin contact: they don’t cause allergies, irritation, or any adverse reactions. If you’re looking for a material with proven quality—this is it. We are currently the only company in Poland offering cork granules with such certification.
WHAT IS THE DENSITY OF GRANULATED CORK?
The density of cork granules depends on the fraction (grain size):
- 0,5 – 1,0 mm: 140–150 kg/m³.
- 1 – 2 mm: 100–110 kg/m³.
- 2 – 3 mm: 120–130 kg/m³.
- 3 – 4 mm: 110–120 kg/m³.
- 4 – 5 mm: 120–130 kg/m³.
IS NATURAL CORK ECO-FRIENDLY AND BIODEGRADABLE?
Yes, it comes from the natural bark of the cork oak—a renewable raw material harvested without cutting down the trees. It’s completely harmless to the environment, as it decomposes on its own. Contains no plastics or chemicals, so it leaves no pollution behind. It naturally returns to the earth.
HOW IS GRANULATED CORK MADE?
It’s produced from the bark of the cork oak tree. The tree itself is not cut down—its bark is carefully stripped every 9 to 12 years, then dried and cleaned. After that, the material is fed into machines that mechanically crush it. This process yields different fractions, ranging from very fine dust to larger cork pieces.
DOES NATURAL CORK LOSE ITS PROPERTIES AFTER BEING GROUND?
No, cork granules are simply a different form of natural cork, and they retain all the same insulating properties—thermal, acoustic, moisture resistance, and adaptability.
By grinding cork, you gain new possibilities: you can pour it, shape it, fill gaps, or use it in places where sheets or rolls wouldn’t work. Granules offer more flexibility—they adapt to shape, are lighter, and easier to apply in hard-to-reach areas.
DOES NATURAL CORK HAVE INSULATING PROPERTIES?
Yes, cork naturally insulates—both heat and sound. This is thanks to its structure: cork is made up of millions of tiny, closed cells filled with air.
Unlike synthetic materials such as polystyrene or mineral wool, cork doesn’t require chemicals or heavy processing. It’s lightweight, durable, breathable, and dust-free. It functions much like other insulators but with the added benefits of being natural, safe, and kind to both your health and the environment.
DO YOU OFFER OTHER TYPES OF GRANULES?
Yes, we also offer:
- Cork dust – an ultra-fine form, almost like flour.
- Cork nuggets – larger pieces of cork, ideal for situations where a bulkier material is needed but still in a loose form.
HOW SHOULD UNUSED GRANULATED CORK BE STORED?
It’s best to keep them in a cool, well-ventilated place—a garage, cellar, or pantry will do just fine. What matters is that they’re not stored next to a heater, in a hot room, or in direct sunlight. Make sure to keep the granules in a sealed container.
IS GRANULATED CORK SUITABLE FOR GARDEN PATHS?
Yes, absolutely. It’s a soft and pleasant-to-walk-on material that cushions your steps well. Unlike stones, gravel, or concrete, it doesn’t press into your feet, doesn’t heat up quickly, and doesn’t turn into mud after rain.
Most materials are either heavy and awkward or too fragile and short-lived. Granulated cork is natural, lightweight, durable, and adaptable. It works where other materials fall short: in hard-to-reach areas, around irregular shapes—anywhere precision and adaptability are key.

#1 ONE MATERIAL, MANY USES
With traditional insulation materials—like polystyrene boards, mineral wool, or polyurethane foam—you have to adapt the project to the material. They need to be cut to size, shaped to fit the space, and sometimes even force you to rethink the whole technical solution. Let’s be honest—it takes up a LOT of time.
Cork granules work the other way around—they adapt to the space. That’s exactly why they’re so widely used in both construction and industry. They’re added to lightweight concrete, thermal insulating plasters, adhesive composites, and even foundations. They also perform well as insulation, used as a filler for cavity walls, significantly enhancing their thermal performance.
#2 INSULATION WITHOUT THE EXTRA WEIGHT
Cork granules offer impressive insulating properties—both thermal and acoustic. Their structure is made up of millions of microscopic air-filled cells that act as a natural barrier against noise and temperature. Unlike many other insulating fillers, cork is exceptionally lightweight—it doesn’t add unnecessary load to the structure.
Adding granulated cork to plasters, mortars or concrete isn’t just a nod to eco-friendliness—it’s a genuine upgrade in performance. These mixes retain heat better, absorb sound more effectively, and are noticeably lighter.
#3 HYGIENE CERTIFICATE – PROOF, NOT JUST A CLAIM
Plenty of products are “safe”—until they’re asked to prove it. Our granulated cork holds an official hygiene certificate from the Polish National Institute of Public Health (PZH). They’re completely safe for skin contact—non-allergenic, non-irritating, and free from any adverse reactions.
This matters especially in places where safety isn’t optional but essential—where children play barefoot or athletes train directly on the surface. Granulated cork is ideal as a natural cushioning layer for playgrounds and sports grounds. It softens falls, reduces the risk of grazes, and thanks to its springy structure, helps prevent injuries. Safe not just in theory—but in everyday use.
#4 100% NATURAL
Granulated cork is made from pure, natural cork—with no additives, synthetic fillers, or dyes. Interestingly, cork comes from Portugal—a country that not only supplies cork but also protects its quality and harvesting traditions. Cork oaks have been growing there for generations.
This isn’t a “greenwashed” material—it’s genuinely organic. Cork is harvested from the cork oak tree without cutting it down—the tree continues to grow, and its bark regenerates naturally. In a world where most natural resources require intensive farming, cork grows at its own pace—sustainably and respectfully.
#5 A DURABLE MATERIAL
Cork granules aren’t just excellent insulators—they’re also built to withstand the test of time. They don’t create an environment where mould or fungi can thrive. Plus, granulated cork isn’t attractive to insects or rodents—it doesn’t lure ants, nor does it serve as food for termites or other pests that often destroy traditional building materials from within.
Cork granules aren’t just thermal and acoustic insulators—they’re also non-conductive. This makes them ideal for use near electrical installations, wherever minimising the risk of short circuits is critical. Importantly, unlike many other natural materials, cork also stands out for its high chemical stability.
