You probably have a few questions, so let us answer them for you.

WHAT TYPES OF FLOORING IS THE RUBBER CORK UNDERLAY SUITABLE FOR?

The rubber-cork underlay is suitable for most types of flooring: you can use it beneath laminate panels, parquet, wooden floorboards, carpet, linoleum, PVC, natural stone, and ceramic tiles. It’s ideal for glued floors, providing excellent acoustic and thermal insulation.

The rubber-cork underlay is also compatible with water-based underfloor heating systems, as it distributes heat evenly and enhances overall comfort. However, avoid using it with electric underfloor heating, as it may damage the cork.

HOW DOES A RUBBER CORK UNDERLAY DIFFER FROM A CORK UNDERLAY?

A rubber-cork underlay is a reinforced version of traditional cork. It combines cork granules with rubber granules (bound together with a polyurethane adhesive). Thanks to this combination, rubber-cork is more durable, flexible, and offers even better sound and thermal insulation. It’s ideal for more demanding subfloors, providing greater density and superior insulating properties.

WHAT ARE THE INSULATING PROPERTIES OF RUBBER CORK?

The rubber-cork underlay provides excellent thermal insulation, helping to keep the room warm. As a result, the floor feels pleasantly warm to the touch, giving you greater everyday comfort. When used beneath panels, rubber-cork acts as a thermal barrier, minimising heat loss and helping to reduce heating costs.

DOES A RUBBER CORK UNDERLAY REDUCE NOISE?

Yes, thanks to its sound-absorbing properties, it helps to reduce noise coming from lower floors as well as sounds within the room itself, significantly improving acoustic comfort.

HOW SHOULD YOU PREPARE THE SURFACE BEFORE LAYING THE UNDERLAY?

Make sure the subfloor is clean, level, and stable. To create the best conditions for installing a rubber-cork underlay, the subfloor moisture content should not exceed 2.5%, the room temperature should be above 10°C, and the humidity should be below 75%.

HOW SHOULD I INSTALL MY UNDERLAY ONTO THE SUBFLOOR?

  1. Preparing the underlay: Remove the underlay from its packaging 24 hours before installation to allow it to acclimatise.
  2. Cutting: Trim the underlay using a sharp knife, leaving a 2–3 cm gap from the walls. Cut the strips to match the length of the room, then roll them back up.
  3. Applying adhesive: Use a cork adhesive, such as Wakol D3540. Apply the adhesive to the subfloor with a notched trowel (B1 or B2) over the width of each strip to be laid. Wait until the adhesive turns transparent — this indicates it’s ready.
  4. Laying the underlay: Unroll the strip of underlay onto the adhesive-coated section, pressing it firmly down and removing any air pockets with a roller. Ensure the edges of each strip meet tightly without any gaps.
  5. Installing the flooring: Begin laying the final flooring 24–48 hours after the underlay has been installed, following the adhesive manufacturer's recommendations.

Important! Never mechanically fix the underlay to the subfloor — this can reduce its insulating properties. Always follow the installation guidelines provided by the adhesive manufacturer used to bond the underlay.

Are you tired of cheap underlays that quickly lose their properties and need replacing after just a few years? By opting for low-quality underlays, you expose yourself to repeated renovations, unnecessary costs, and extra hassle. Rubber-cork is a solution built to last for years, saving you time, money, and stress.

#1 COMFORT – EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Do you spend time playing on the floor with your children? Or perhaps you like to walk barefoot around the house in the evenings? Rubber-cork underlay beneath your panels ensures that every one of these moments is comfortable and enjoyable.

It creates the perfect surface for walking — no annoying creaks, no icy cold floors, just warmth and quiet that you’ll feel and appreciate every day.

#2 PEACE AND QUIET

Are you fed up with noise at home? While you can’t eliminate every sound, creaking floors are certainly something you can fix. Thanks to its excellent sound-absorbing properties, the underlay muffles footstep noise — so you can work in full concentration, and your children can play without disturbing anyone.

No matter what’s going on in neighbouring rooms, rubber-cork offers you peace and privacy, creating the perfect environment for both work and relaxation.

#3 LONG-LASTING PROTECTION

If you're looking for a durable solution, a rubber-cork underlay beneath your panels is the perfect choice. The rubber-cork underlay is resistant to moisture, rot, and biological corrosion. It doesn’t compress under pressure, meaning your floor won’t become deformed over time.

You won’t waste money on yet another underlay that needs replacing after just a few months. Rubber-cork is a truly long-lasting material.

#4 THE BEST CHOICE FOR YOUR HOME

Rubber-cork underlay outperforms traditional materials such as soft fibreboard, polyethylene foam, corrugated cardboard, or paper. It is more abrasion-resistant and far more durable.

Rubber-cork offers longevity and a level of comfort you simply won’t find with other underlays. You can be confident that your floor will last for years, leaving you free to enjoy the warmth and quiet underfoot.
