Imagine having walls you don’t need to fuss over for years — no worries about touching up paint, fixing scratched wallpaper, or constantly cleaning off dust. And on top of that, a place where you can pin photos, reminders, or important papers. Sure, you’ll find ready-made cork boards in standard sizes at most big stores, but why settle? It’s so much better to cover the entire wall. That’s where an 8mm cork board roll for walls comes into play. Just unroll it, glue it on — no drilling, no mess — and enjoy a functional, great-looking wall space.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH CORK BOARD ROLL FOR WALLS?
Plenty of things! Some of the most popular uses include:
- Interior design and finishing — a great alternative to using paint or wallpaper.
- Sound and heat insulation — helps with noise reduction and thermal insulation. If you’re mainly after insulation, go for cork that’s at least 10 mm thick.
- Technical purposes — for example, gaskets, padding, and various industrial applications.
- Pinboards — rolls are perfect for making large boards, even covering whole walls.
- Handmade cork products and accessories.
IS NATURAL CORK ROLL GOOD FOR MAKING A NOTICE BOARD?
Definitely — if you want to build a large board, cork roll works really well. We recommend using a 5 to 10 mm thickness — this is the ideal range — so pins stay secure without pushing all the way through.
To make it even more durable, it’s a good idea to add a backing panel (like fibreboard or cork board), which will help keep everything stable.
WHICH SHOULD YOU CHOOSE: 8MM CORK ROLL OR SHEETS?
It really depends on what you’re working on. If it’s a larger project — say a big pinboard or wall covering — a roll is better. You’ll have fewer seams, so the finish looks cleaner. Before putting it up, it’s a good plan to unroll the cork and weigh it down for a while so it lies flat.
Cork sheets are more suited for smaller projects where joins aren’t such an issue.
WHY SHOULD YOU LET THE CORK 8MM SETTLE BEFORE INSTALLING?
Since cork is a natural material, it adjusts to the temperature and humidity of the room. That’s why it’s good to give it around three days to acclimatise before you install it. This way, it will bond properly to the wall. Skipping this can cause problems like peeling later on.
HOW SHOULD I FIT NATURAL CORK ROLL TO A WALL?
The best way is to use a contact adhesive, such as Wakol D-3540.
Here’s how to do it:
- Make sure the wall is clean, smooth and dry before you start — preparation makes a big difference.
- Spread Wakol adhesive on both the wall and the back of the cork. Wait until the glue turns transparent.
- Press the cork into place, smoothing it down as you go.
- Let it cure — Wakol takes roughly 24 hours to fully set.
Average adhesive usage is 150–250 g/m². That means 0.8 kg will cover about 4 m², and a 2.5 kg package will do around 12.5 m².
WILL 8MM CORK ROLL WORK ON AN UNEVEN SURFACE?
We don’t recommend it for uneven walls. You’ll get a much better finish on a surface that’s flat, smooth, clean and dry.
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN CORK ROLL?
It’s nice and easy — cork doesn’t attract much dust, as it’s antistatic. Just wipe it now and then with a soft cloth that’s slightly damp, or use a gentle duster.
HOW DO YOU CUT CORK 8MM?
It’s simple — a sharp utility knife works perfectly. Just remember to cut on a solid surface for best results.
WHAT GRAIN SIZE IS CORK BOARD ROLL FOR WALLS?
It’s a medium-grain cork — durable enough to hold pins and handle everyday use, while still looking smart and tidy on the wall.
CAN YOU PAINT OVER CORK?
Yes — just be sure to use paint that works well on natural materials, like paints for cork. You’ll get a lovely finish that lasts.
CAN I GET A SAMPLE?
Yes, samples are available. You can see what the cork looks and feels like before ordering more.
DO YOU STOCK SELF-ADHESIVE CORK ROLLS FOR WALLS?
Yes, we also sell self-adhesive cork rolls — they’re super handy as you won’t need to use glue. Just peel off the backing and stick it straight to the wall.
Cork roll gives you loads of options — whether you’re putting together a giant pinboard, adding a decorative touch to your walls, or improving how a room sounds. And while there’s no shortage of materials out there today, natural cork offers qualities that really stand out.

#1 THE BEST MATERIAL FOR PINNING THINGS UP
When you want a big pinboard, cork roll really has no equal. It gives you a spacious surface where pins hold firm, no matter how often you use them. It’s also great if you want to cover a full wall.
It’s perfect for schools, offices and homes — basically anywhere a board will see regular use. Cork roll also looks far more stylish than ready-made boards from large retailers — you’re getting high-quality cork that won’t start crumbling in a matter of weeks. It’s a solution built to last, not just a quick fix.
#2 CORK BETTER THAN PAINT OR WALLPAPER
Paint and wallpaper are still common choices — they’ve been popular for years. But they’re pretty basic — just decorative and without any extra benefits. You can’t pin photos or notes on them. They won’t improve how a room sounds. They don’t even shield your walls from minor bumps. And chances are, after a few years you’ll be repainting or re-papering when colours fade or the look goes out of fashion.
Cork gives you so much more: you can pin things up, it helps with acoustics and even cuts down on dust floating in the air. And as a natural product, it keeps its good looks for years — with timeless style and much more durability than standard finishes.
#3 A MATERIAL THAT DOES IT ALL
Cork roll is wonderfully adaptable — in every sense. You can cut and shape it however you need to fit different spaces: not just walls, but doors, alcoves, partitions or larger pieces of furniture too.
It works brilliantly in children’s rooms (ideal for creating full walls where they can pin their artwork), in creative workspaces, in hallways (perfect for notices), in classrooms, or in open offices where you want to add warmth and dampen sound. It’s easy to tailor cork to suit both small home projects and bigger commercial fit-outs.
#4 GOOD FOR THE PLANET
Cork is 100% natural and sustainable. It’s harvested from cork oak bark, which regrows after each harvest (usually taking between 9 and 12 years) — there’s no need to cut down the tree!
Instead of using plastic-based boards that’ll eventually end up in landfill, you’re opting for a safe, eco-friendly material. Cork doesn’t leave behind plastic waste — it’s fully biodegradable.
#5 SIMPLE AND PRACTICAL EVERY DAY
Natural cork looks great and works brilliantly — and it’s also super easy to maintain. Thanks to its antistatic nature, it won’t gather dust, so you won’t have to clean it all the time. That’s a big plus over wallpapers or plastic coverings.
Even better, it releases no harmful chemicals — cork is naturally hypoallergenic and safe (great for kids’ rooms and allergy sufferers). You can install it in bedrooms or anywhere in the home with complete confidence.
