We bet you’ve got a few questions – let us clear them up.
WHICH ONE’S BETTER – CORKOLEUM FLOORING OR FLOOR PANELS?
Corkoleum is the better pick if you’re after a floor with no visible joins. Fewer seams mean not only a tidier finish, but also a lower chance of moisture or dirt getting in, which makes cleaning and maintenance simpler.
On the other hand, if visible joins don’t bother you, panels are a solid alternative too – you can usually fit them yourself without any glue (for instance, floating panels).
HOW DOES CORKOLEUM FLOORING STACK UP AGAINST OTHER FLOOR TYPES?
Corkoleum flooring is soft underfoot, offering outstanding walking comfort. Unlike laminate, wood parquet or ceramic tiles, which often feel cold and rigid, Corkoleum gives you a warm, cushioned, and pleasant surface to walk on.
Plus, with its insulating abilities, Corkoleum helps keep your floor warm and reduces unwanted noise. Other options, such as vinyl, can’t really compete with Corkoleum when it comes to insulation.
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO GLUE DOWN CORK FLOORING ROLL?
Before getting started, allow the Corkoleum rolls to rest for about 72 hours in a dry, airy space (preferably in the place where it will be installed). Keep them stored upright in their original packaging.
For gluing the cork covering, gather these tools: a craft knife, pencil, tape measure, ruler, paint roller, paint tray, and a bucket. You can also go for our ready-to-use kit for gluing, painting, or varnishing cork.
#1 Make sure the subfloor is even and free of dust, grease, paint, or anything else that could affect adhesion.
#2 Once you’ve unrolled the cork, let it rest for a few minutes so it settles flat. Check under natural light for any visible flaws.
#3 Spread the adhesive over the subfloor. Deciding between Wakol D 3540 and Mapei Adesilex G19 depends on what your base is made of: Wakol works well on both porous and non-porous surfaces and on existing well-bonded coverings, while Mapei Adesilex G19, a two-part polyurethane glue, is better suited for rubber or PVC bases. If you’re installing with an overlap, apply the glue area so it’s 5 centimetres narrower than the Corkoleum’s width. Overlap installation means two strips slightly overlap, and once aligned and trimmed precisely, the seam becomes nearly invisible.
#4 Clear away any leftover materials once you’re done laying the floor.
#5 Apply the topcoat after 24 hours, following the instructions provided by the varnish manufacturer.
IS CORKOLEUM FLOORING SAFE FOR KIDS AND PETS?
Yes, cork roll flooring is an excellent option for children and animals – it’s naturally soft and springy, adding extra comfort and cushioning. This makes it safer for little ones when they tumble and gentler on the paws of furry companions. Natural cork is also hypoallergenic, which is another big advantage.
DOES CORK HELP KEEP FLOORS COSY AND WARM?
Absolutely! Thanks to its natural structure, Corkoleum keeps the floor pleasantly warm. Even during chilly weather, you can walk around barefoot and still feel cosy – no socks needed!
IS CORK FLOORING ROLL SLIP-RESISTANT?
Yes, it is! Cork contains tiny air pockets that boost grip, and its elasticity helps spread out foot pressure evenly, reducing the risk of slipping. Using a cork roll floor covering enhances this non-slip effect, giving your home even greater safety and comfort.
DO I NEED TO PREPARE THE SUBFLOOR BEFORE LAYING CORKOLEUM?
If your subfloor isn’t completely flat or smooth, it needs to be levelled properly. Taking the time to do this is worthwhile, since any bumps or uneven areas may show through the Corkoleum surface later. You can fix this by sanding, applying a smoothing compound, or using a self-levelling screed.
REMEMBER! The smoother, the better – it ensures your cork roll sticks well and looks perfect. Also check that the subfloor is dry before applying adhesive (always follow the glue manufacturer’s guidelines).
CAN CORKOLEUM BE USED WITH UNDERFLOOR HEATING?
Corkoleum works well with water-based underfloor heating systems, where hot water flows beneath the cork roll. With water heating, temperature changes are slower and gentler, making it safer for cork floors.
IMPORTANT! Corkoleum is not recommended for electric underfloor heating, as sudden temperature spikes could damage the material.
CAN CORK LOSE COLOUR IN SUNLIGHT?
Cork is fairly resistant to UV rays; still, like all natural materials, cork roll flooring may slowly lighten with prolonged sun exposure. But compared with some laminate or wood floors, cork keeps its colour and texture for longer.
To preserve its beauty, use blinds or curtains to limit direct sunlight. It’s a simple way to protect your floor and keep its colour looking fresh for many years.
CAN CORK FLOORING BE USED IN ROOMS LIKE BATHROOMS OR KITCHENS?
Cork flooring performs best in spaces where temperatures stay between 15°C and 25°C. Corkoleum is moisture-resistant in rooms with humidity levels around 40–60%. To maintain its quality, avoid direct water contact.
IS CORKOLEUM SUITABLE FOR BUSY AREAS LIKE OFFICES OR SHOPS?
Although cork is more durable compared with many natural materials, it’s not ideal for areas with extremely heavy foot traffic, such as busy offices or shops. It manages well in everyday use, but under constant wear it may show signs of ageing faster.
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN CORK?
Frequent vacuuming and gentle cleaning are all it takes to keep your cork floor looking fresh. Vacuum every few days to avoid dirt scratching the surface.
For deeper cleaning, use warm water with a mild detergent – it’s great for tackling tough dirt on cork surfaces.
Nothing feels worse in the morning than stepping onto a cold floor. Corkoleum takes care of that, as cork is naturally soft and warm underfoot. Plus, there’s a wide range of patterns to choose from, so you can easily find one that perfectly suits your home’s design.

#1 QUIET, WARM AND COSY
Do you love the feeling of walking barefoot at home but dislike the chill of stone or the creaks of wooden floors? Corkoleum keeps the floor pleasantly warm even on colder mornings, making it perfect for those who enjoy bare feet. It’s also wonderfully quiet – footsteps are almost silent, creating calm and comfort throughout your home.
Because of its natural acoustic properties, cork flooring absorbs noise and minimises echo. Corkoleum is an ideal solution for eco-conscious households, too, as it provides excellent thermal insulation. That means reduced energy use and lower heating costs.
#2 SIMPLE TO INSTALL
Corkoleum comes in convenient rolls, allowing you to finish larger areas without creating multiple visible joins. Its slim profile makes fitting it a breeze – ideal for rooms where every millimetre matters. A polyurethane top layer guards against wear, scratches, and everyday damage, keeping the surface easy to clean and maintain.
The blend of cork and recycled rubber gives the flooring shock-absorbing qualities, providing exceptional walking comfort. It’s especially practical in family homes with kids or older residents, where slips and trips can happen. Corkoleum helps make the floor safer for everyone.
#3 STYLE AND PRACTICALITY
This is what Corkoleum delivers! With its natural resistance to damp and mould, it’s perfectly suited for everyday home life — where we spend so much of our time. Your home should feel comfortable, warm, and easy to live in, and Corkoleum helps make that possible. It creates a space that’s not only beautiful, but also cosy, practical, and truly pleasant to walk on every single day.
If you drop something heavy, Corkoleum stands up to impact better than ceramic tiles, which can easily chip or shatter. Unlike laminate, it won’t swell from moisture, and unlike parquet, it doesn’t demand constant care.
#4 SAFE BY NATURE
Your wellbeing comes first. By choosing Corkoleum, you ensure a healthier living space thanks to cork’s natural antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties. It’s also anti-static, which means it repels dust and allergens rather than attracting them.
Corkoleum is a friendly flooring option – its flexible structure cushions your steps, easing pressure on your spine and making barefoot walking truly pleasant.
