How often have you snipped off bits of material just to make it “kinda work”? Likely more times than you’d care to admit — only to wind up with a finish that’s far from ideal. Rigid boards won’t close gaps or merge smoothly with plaster. That’s where cork granules shine: they moulds themselves to fit. Just tip it in wherever you need it — no slicing, no fuss. It's adaptable, featherlight, and all-natural cork in a handy loose form.

Got a couple of queries? We’ve got you covered with clear answers!

WHAT EXACTLY ARE CORK GRANULES?

It’s natural cork in ground form. The grains are earthy-toned, light brown, and feel porous to the touch. They’re clean, adaptable, and don’t produce dust. This loose version of natural cork is much more versatile—you can tip it into gaps, and use it in ways you just can’t with stiff sheets or rolls.

HOW CAN CORK GRANULES BE USED?

This type of natural cork is handy across multiple areas and industries:

  • Construction and industrial uses: great as an addition to lightweight concrete, thermal plasters, glues, and foundations.
  • Thermal insulation: works perfectly for filling wall cavities to enhance heat retention.
  • Core for composites: ideal for use inside cabins, vehicle interiors, etc.
  • Furniture: a green filling option for soft seating like pouffes or lounge chairs.
  • Shoe manufacturing: used in producing soles and footbeds.
  • Sports and surfaces: filler for balls, punching bags, and sports pitch infill. Also seen in play areas and decorative faux beaches.
  • Gardening: when blended with soil, it improves air flow and soil consistency.
  • Crafts and model-making: resembles gravel or pebbles, ideal for dioramas, nativity sets, or theatre props. Also doubles as lightweight fake sand.
  • Terrarium bedding: safe and natural base layer for terrarium setups.
  • Absorbent for spills: used in clearing up oil.

DOES CORK GRANULES COME WITH ANY SAFETY CERTIFICATION?

Absolutely—they carry an official health certification issued by Poland’s National Institute of Public Health (PZH). This proves that the cork granules are totally safe for skin contact—no allergies, no irritation, nothing harmful. If verified safety is a priority for you, this product ticks the box. In fact, we’re the only brand in Poland offering cork granules with this exact approval.

WHAT’S THE WEIGHT OF CORK GRANULES?

Density depends on the grain size (fraction):

  • 0.5 – 1.0 mm: 140–150 kg/m³.
  • 1 – 2 mm: 100–110 kg/m³.
  • 2 – 3 mm: 120–130 kg/m³.
  • 3 – 4 mm: 110–120 kg/m³.
  • 4 – 5 mm: 120–130 kg/m³.

IS NATURAL CORK REALLY SUSTAINABLE?

Yes, it’s sourced from the bark of cork oaks—a raw material that renews naturally and doesn’t require tree removal. It’s entirely eco-friendly, breaking down naturally over time. No synthetic additives, no pollution. It simply goes back to nature when it’s done.

HOW ARE CORK GRANULES CREATED?

Granulated cork is made from cork oak bark. No trees are felled—the bark is gently harvested every 9 to 12 years, then left to dry and cleaned up. After that, it goes through mechanical grinding. This process produces various sizes of granules, from powdery fine to chunkier bits.

DOES GRINDING NATURAL CORK AFFECT ITS QUALITIES?

No, not at all. Ground cork is still cork—it keeps its excellent properties like thermal and sound insulation, moisture resistance, and flexibility.

Breaking it down into smaller grains just opens up more ways to use it. You can pour it, mould it, and apply it where sheets would fail. Granulated cork is just more versatile—lighter to handle, easier to fit, and perfect for awkward spaces.

DOES CORK REALLY INSULATE?

It absolutely doescork is a natural insulator against both heat and noise. This is due to its unique structure: millions of tiny sealed cells filled with air.

Unlike synthetic options like polystyrene or rock wool, cork needs no added chemicals or intense processing. It's light, durable, and breathable.

ARE THERE OTHER TYPES OF CORK GRANULES?

Yes, we’ve got a few options:

  • Cork powder – super-fine, almost flour-like in texture.
  • Cork nuggets – bigger loose bits for when a heavier fill is needed.

HOW TO STORE LEFTOVER CORK GRANULES?

Best kept in a cool, airy space—a cellar, shed, or pantry is great. Just don’t leave it near heaters, in hot rooms, or exposed to sunlight. Keep your cork granules sealed up tight in a container.

Lots of materials are bulky, awkward, or just not built to last. Granulated cork is different: light, tough, eco-friendly, and easy to work with. It fits where other materials struggle—tight spots, odd corners, anywhere that needs a clever solution.

Black text WHY is it worth it?» with cork on the right on a white background.

#1 ONE PRODUCT, ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES

When it comes to typical insulation materials—like polystyrene panels, mineral wool or PU foam—you often end up tailoring your entire plan to suit the material. Cutting, shaping, adapting... sometimes even changing the entire approach. Let’s be real—it eats up loads of time.

Granulated cork flips the script—it shapes itself to the space. That’s what makes it such a go-to in both construction and industry. It’s used in lightweight concretes, insulating plasters, composite adhesives, and even for foundation work. It also serves as a brilliant insulating fill for wall cavities, boosting their thermal performance big time.

#2 INSULATES WITHOUT THE HEAVY LIFTING

Cork granules have excellent thermal and sound insulation qualities. Their makeup includes millions of tiny, air-filled pockets that naturally block out noise and help regulate temperature. And unlike a lot of other fillers, they’re super light—no extra structural burden.

Blending granulated cork into concrete or plasters isn’t just an eco-conscious move—it’s a real boost in performance. These mixes trap heat better, muffle sound more efficiently, and weigh a whole lot less.

#3 CERTIFIED SAFETY – FACT, NOT PROMISE

Many products claim to be “safe”—right up until you ask for proof. Our cork granules come with a valid hygiene certificate issued by the Polish National Institute of Public Health (PZH). They’re proven safe for skin contact—non-irritating, allergy-friendly, and completely neutral in reaction.

This is especially important in areas where safety isn’t just a bonus, but a must—like where children run barefoot or athletes train at full pace. Granulated cork is spot-on for natural shock absorption in play zones and sports facilities. It cushions impacts, helps avoid scrapes, and thanks to its bouncy structure, cuts the chance of injury. Safe not just on paper—but where it truly counts.

#4 COMPLETELY NATURAL

Made from genuine natural cork—free from added chemicals, plastics, or artificial colours. Cork originates from Portugal, a country that not only leads cork production but also protects its quality and harvesting traditions. Cork oaks thrive there, generation after generation.

There’s nothing “fake green” here—this is the real deal. The bark is gently stripped from cork oaks without harming the tree—it keeps growing, and the bark grows back. In a world where natural resources are often pushed to the limit, cork regenerates in its own rhythm—sustainably and naturally.

#5 BUILT TO LAST

Cork granules are more than just solid insulators—they’re also highly durable over time. They don’t support mould growth or fungus. What’s more, pests steer clear of them—termites, ants, or rodents simply aren’t interested, unlike with many common building materials.

Besides their sound and heat insulation qualities, cork granules are also electrically non-conductive, making them a smart option near electrical setups, where safety is key. And unlike other natural products, cork has chemical stability, which makes it even more reliable in the long run.
