WHICH CORK THICKNESS SHOULD I GO FOR?

Here’s a quick guide:

  • up to 4 mm – ideal as a decorative or surface layer, great for coverings, crafts, or furniture makeovers,
  • 5–10 mm – perfect for pinboards, as it allows pins to stick in well (you’ll need something behind it, like fibreboard),
  • above 10 mm – go for this if you’re after proper insulation.

IS 12 MM CORK ROLL JUST FOR LOOKS, OR DOES IT REALLY WORK?

It’s definitely more than just decorative. If you’re only after a cork aesthetic, something like 2–4 mm is fine. But for real insulation benefits, you’ll want something thicker – 10 mm and up is where it starts to count.

CAN I USE 12 MM CORK INSULATION ROLL TO FIX A CHILLY WALL?

Yes, definitely – 12 mm cork is a great option for cold walls. It makes the surface feel warmer.

You can apply it across the whole wall, or just in places where it really matters – like behind your headboard, by your desk, or next to a baby’s cot. That’s why we offer smaller pieces, too – so it’s easy to match it to whatever space you need.

WHAT SIZES ARE AVAILABLE?

You’ll find it in both larger roll lengths and smaller formats. This way, you can pick just the right size – whether you’re covering an entire wall or only doing a smaller project. No matter the size, the cork does the same job – the only thing that changes is the amount.

WHAT ELSE CAN I USE CORK ROLL FOR BESIDES WALLS?

Cork is super universal. You can also use it for:

  • sealings,
  • technical or industrial tasks,
  • creative DIY work,
  • making models or mock-ups.

CAN CORK WALL COVERING ROLL TRIGGER ALLERGIES?

Nope – cork is a non-allergenic material. It doesn’t create dust, release nasty particles, or trap dirt. It’s completely safe, even for people with asthma or allergies.

HOW DOES CORK INSULATION ROLL STACK UP AGAINST FOAM MATS?

Foam is usually cheaper – but cork has the edge in almost every other way. It’s a natural and eco-friendly option that has insulating properties.

WHICH GLUE IS BEST FOR STICKING IT TO THE WALL?

Wakol D-3540 is a great match – it’s a water-based contact glue that’s easy to apply and bonds well with cork.

You’ll usually use around 150–250 g/m², so 0.8 kg will cover about 4 m², while a 2.5 kg tub should stretch to roughly 12.5 m².

HOW DO I PUT CORK ROLL ONTO A WALL?

  1. Spread the adhesive (Wakol D-3540) on both the wall and cork backing.
  2. Wait until the glue goes clear – that’s your sign it’s ready.
  3. Stick the cork to the wall and press it down evenly.
  4. Let it set – the adhesive fully bonds after about 24 hours.

ANYTHING I SHOULD DO BEFORE I START THE INSTALLATION?

  • Make sure your wall is clean, dry, and dust-free. The better the prep, the stronger the bond – and the less chance of it peeling later on.
  • Let the cork adjust to the room before you install it. Best to leave it in place for about 72 hours to settle in properly.

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN CORK WITHOUT MESSING IT UP?

Use a soft cloth or light sponge – you can go dry or just a little damp.

Skip anything rough, avoid soaking it, and steer clear of strong cleaners – cork is natural, so gentle care is key.

It’s not easy to come across finishing materials that tick all the boxes: useful, long-lasting, safe – and still natural. Cork stands out as the rare exception. It’s eco-friendly, non-allergenic, and genuinely practical.

Black text WHY is it worth it?» with cork on the right on a white background.

#1 MORE COMFORT, LESS NOISE AND LOWER BILLS

When your walls feel chilly, natural cork helps cut down the cold and makes the space feel cosier. Once applied, it forms a warm barrier, especially welcome in places like bedrooms, by your bed, workspace, or where kids play and sleep. Cork also softens sound, making your home quieter and more relaxing – ideal for working, reading, or just switching off.

You don't necessarily have to think about lining entire walls with cork. Sometimes there are areas that need insulation, and that's why you'll find smaller formats of cork rolls available. It is then easier to adjust the material and its properties remain unchanged.

#2 CLEANER AIR AND FEWER ALLERGENS

You can’t say this about many wall materials – but cork is genuinely a healthy choice. Contains no harmful chemicals, and won’t fill the air with dust. It’s also brilliant for allergy sufferers – cork repels dust rather than collecting it. Thanks to its antistatic properties, particles simply don’t cling to the surface.

That means the air stays cleaner – and cleaning becomes easier. People with asthma really benefit, but it’s great for anyone who wants fresher, more breathable air indoors. Cork is a naturally “breathing” material – it helps balance the room’s humidity.

#3 A SMART CHOICE WITH GROWING POPULARITY

Cork is gaining fans fast – especially among those wanting a boost in warmth or quiet without tearing the house apart. It’s an easy upgrade that doesn’t need a big makeover – and you’ll notice the difference almost right away. People are using cork in bedrooms, nurseries, home workspaces, and even in flats they rent out.

Plus, cork comes from a sustainable source – it’s harvested from the bark of cork oaks, so the trees stay standing. That means you're picking a solution that not only does the job but also treads lightly on the planet.
