Need decent insulation? There are loads of products out there promising big things – but most don’t really deliver. Sure, you could splash out, get someone in to install it, and just hope for the best. But let’s be real – it’s a bit of a gamble. Things could go wrong, and your cash is gone. A safer option? Go for something easy, natural and you know it works – like coarse-grain self adhesive cork wall panels. No fuss, easy to apply, and the difference is immediate – more peace and quiet, more warmth, and a much cosier vibe. We’re speaking from experience here!

Wondering about a few things? We’ve got you covered!

CAN I INSTALL THESE CORK WALL PANELS BY MYSELF?

Yes, totally. Putting up self-adhesive cork is really simple – just remove the backing, press it where you want it, and that’s it. No glue, drills, tools or help needed.

There are two important things to think about before you begin:

  • Only apply the cork to surfaces that are flat, clean, dry, and dust-free (think plasterboard or furniture pieces). If the surface is even slightly rough, it won’t hold well.
  • Let the cork sit in the room for 72 hours before sticking it on. That gives it time to get used to the room, so it won’t curl, shrink or peel off later.

WHAT MISTAKES SHOULD I AVOID WHEN USING SELF ADHESIVE CORK?

Mistake #1: Sticking it to a wall that’s dusty or dirty. If it’s not properly cleaned, the cork won’t stay stuck for long.

Mistake #2: Applying cork to bumpy or rough surfaces. Even if it feels just a bit uneven, that’s already too much – cork needs smooth walls to grip properly.

Mistake #3: Trying to shift it once it’s stuck. Lifting and re-sticking the cork can damage the sticky layer – or even mess up the cork panel itself.

SHOULD I USE GLUE WITH SELF ADHESIVE CORK WALL PANELS?

No – each cork tile comes with a strong adhesive backing already. As long as the wall is dry, smooth, clean and free of dust, it’ll hold firmly in place. No extra glue needed at all.

CAN I STICK CORK WALL PANELS ON TOP OF TILES OR WALLPAPER?

Not recommended – cork won’t bond properly to surfaces like old tiles or wallpaper. Be sure to remove any previous coverings before applying the self-adhesive cork.

IS CORK REALLY EFFECTIVE FOR INSULATION?

Absolutely – cork’s not just about looks. Its structure contains millions of microscopic air pockets that create a natural thermal and acoustic barrier.

WILL CORK KEEP INSULATING OVER TIME?

Cork barely changes with age – its insulation performance can last even for decades.

Unlike synthetic foams or mats that may lose shape or break down, cork holds up over the years and stays just as effective without needing to be replaced often.

WHAT MAKES CORK DIFFERENT FROM FOAM OR MINERAL WOOL?

Foam is a cheaper alternative, but it's artificial and doesn't let the wall breathe. Mineral wool can cause skin or breathing irritation, which makes it a less safe option around children or allergy sufferers. Cork is breathable, natural, hypoallergenic and safe – and works wonderfully as insulation too.

IS CORK SUITABLE FOR ASTHMATICS OR CHILDREN?

Yes – that’s one of cork’s big selling points. It’s completely natural, doesn’t produce dust or toxins, and won’t trigger allergic reactions. It even repels dust thanks to its antistatic surface, making it ideal for sensitive environments.

SHOULD I USE CORK ROLLS OR SHEETS?

Cork tiles are great when precision matters – like in smaller installations or spot insulation. But if you’re covering a large surface, like an entire wall, rolled cork is more convenient and efficient.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COARSE, MEDIUM AND FINE-GRAIN CORK?

  1. Coarse-grain cork has a rougher surface and works best for thermal and sound insulation. Its open, uneven texture traps heat and dampens sound waves effectively.
  2. Medium-grain cork is more consistent in texture and perfect for things like memo boards, dividers, and display areas.
  3. Fine-grain cork has the smoothest finish and is also the most flexible. It’s commonly used in crafting, shoes, coasters and as a sleek layer on walls – both decorative and practical.

WHAT’S THE RIGHT WAY TO CLEAN CORK?

Looking after cork is simple – wipe it gently with a soft damp cloth. If you need something stronger, go for a mild detergent that’s pH-neutral.

Just avoid any harsh chemicals or rough sponges, as these can damage the cork’s surface layer.

Insulation made from cork? That threw us too – right up until we saw just how good it really is. Forget about having strangers tearing up your house for days – just peel and press the cork onto your wall, and it’s all sorted.

Black text WHY is it worth it?» with cork on the right on a white background.

#1 COSY AND CALM – WITHOUT THE HASSLE

You walk in after a long shift, looking forward to peace and quiet – a warm drink, maybe some telly – and your neighbour decides it’s time for a cooking show with full sound effects. Stick-on cork panels help keep that noise out – they’re packed with countless tiny bubbles that naturally muffle sound.

And there’s more – cork helps you spend less on heating. Once it’s up, you won’t need to blast the radiators or live in thick jumpers. It’s a simple fix for keeping things snug while saving a bit of money.

#2 DIY MADE SIMPLE

No need to call in the pros or rummage through the garage for gear. No glue, no power tools, no waiting around for someone who might show up next week. The cork panels already come with adhesive – peel off the backing, press it onto the wall, and you’re all set. Fast, clean, and no risk of a DIY disaster.

It’s easier on your wallet as well – no hidden extras, no service fees. You’re saving a good bit of cash.

#3 THE ECO-FRIENDLY WIN

This isn’t just green talk – it’s the real deal. Natural cork actually stores more CO₂ than it produces, from production right through its life. That’s something you won’t find in other insulation materials.

Plus, the trees stay standing. Cork is made from bark that grows back naturally every 9 to 12 years – so the same tree can be harvested again and again without harm.

In short – it’s a great shout for your home and even better for the environment.

#4 FRESH LOOK – MINIMAL EFFORT

Let’s face it – no one wants to be dusting every day, especially if you’ve got pets, allergies, or just too much going on. Cork naturally repels dust thanks to its antistatic qualities, meaning it stays clean for longer and doesn’t trap allergens.

And if it ever needs a tidy-up? Just wipe it with a damp cloth – no chemicals, no elbow grease. Cork practically looks after itself. You put it up, give it the occasional clean, and you’re done – until someone visits and says, “Wow – what’s on your wall?” Then it all comes back to you.
