Thinking about protecting wood? In many cases, this is required either by safety rules or the project itself. So, the real question is: what’s the right way to do it? After all, not every solution works well with natural materials. The smartest choice is HolzProf — a ready-made fire retardant product for wood. A small step that can make a huge difference when it comes to safety.
Slows Fire Spread
Ready to Apply
Simple to Use
Highly Efficient
Meets Safety Standards
Durable Protection
This fire retardant soaks into the material and slows down as well as limits the ignition process in case of fire. As a result, flames move at a reduced pace, giving you extra time to take action.
It can be applied to wood and other cellulose-based materials. Since it is water-based, it won’t change the natural look or feel of the surface.
Important: The product only works on absorbent substrates. If the material has been previously varnished or painted, the fire retardant will not penetrate and therefore won’t be effective.
Always wear protective gloves and safety goggles, and make sure the space is well ventilated. If spraying, use a mask fitted with a P3 filter. This ensures the process is both safe and easy. Don’t forget to carefully follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.
The surface must be dry, clean, degreased, and clear of dust, dirt, stains, or glue traces.
Keep in mind that the material should not be painted, varnished, or covered with any protective finish that would prevent absorption. Only then will the retardant soak in properly and provide protection.
Always store the product in its original, sealed packaging, in a dry and cool place with adequate ventilation. Best storage temperature is between +5°C and +25°C. Do not allow the liquid to freeze.
The fire retardant remains usable for up to 24 months from the manufacturing date.
Want to keep wood safe but feel discouraged by tricky solutions? Many products need mixing, special gear, and long prep time – making it tempting to delay. HolzProf is a simple, ready-to-use fire protection for wood – it goes on easily, quickly, and doesn’t demand any prior know-how.

In many cases extra safeguarding is needed. Whether it's required by law or you simply want to increase safety, it's a perfectly valid approach!
HolzProf meets EN 13501-1 and reaches fire classification B-s1,d0. In practice, that means it barely spreads fire, gives off very little smoke, and doesn’t drip burning bits or sparks.
No mixing, no thinning – the formula is ready right from the bottle. This makes the job fast and straightforward. Thanks to its liquid texture, it soaks into material, protecting both the surface and the inner layers. That’s important, because real safety goes further than what you can see on top.
Better still, you can handle the whole process on your own. Applying it feels similar to painting – easy, natural, and needing no special training. The only twist is that instead of changing colour, you’re boosting protection.
Choosing a water-based fire retardant is a real advantage. For one, there’s no harsh chemical odour. For another, it’s much safer to work with. Without strong fumes, you’re far less likely to experience irritation or headaches.
