Looking for a way to make cork safer in case of fire? In some situations, safety rules demand it, while in others it’s simply a smart choice for the project. But what’s the best approach? Not every solution works well with natural surfaces. That’s why HolzProf is the perfect answer — a ready-to-use fire protection product for cork that slows down combustion. A simple step that greatly improves overall safety.
Prevents Fast Burning
Ready to Use
Hassle-Free Application
Reliable
Improved Safety
Long-Lasting Protection
HolzProf seeps into the cork and slows down the ignition process while also reducing the intensity of burning. This means that flames spread more gradually, giving you valuable time to act in case of fire.
The product is suitable for wood and other cellulose-based surfaces, including cork. Because it is water-based, it does not alter the cork’s natural look, structure, or texture.
Important: HolzProf only works on materials that can absorb it. If the surface has been coated, painted, or sealed, the fire retardant will not be able to penetrate and therefore won’t provide protection.
Always put on protective gloves and safety goggles, and make sure the space is well aired. When applying via spray, wear a mask fitted with a P3 filter. This ensures safe and comfortable use. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
Check that the surface is dry, clean, free of grease, and has no dust, dirt, stains, or glue residues.
Remember: For the retardant to work, the cork must be untreated. Avoid applying it to surfaces that are painted, varnished, or covered with any finish that blocks absorption.
Keep HolzProf in its original, securely closed container, in a cool, dry, and ventilated storage area. The best storage temperature is between +5°C and +25°C. Avoid freezing at all costs.
The product remains effective for 24 months from the date of production.
Want to keep your cork safe but frustrated by products that seem too complex? Many options require measuring, mixing, special tools, and a lot of prep work – which often leads to putting it off. HolzProf is ready and easy to use, fast to apply, and perfect even if you’ve never done it before.

Cork already offers some natural fire resistance – it tends to char slowly rather than fully ignite. But in certain situations, that protection isn’t enough, and extra measures are needed.
HolzProf is tested according to EN 13501-1 and achieves classification B-s1,d0. That means flames spread very little, smoke levels stay low, and no burning particles or drops are released.
Forget about mixing or preparing anything – this solution comes ready to apply. The process is quick and straightforward. Its liquid formula lets it sink into the cork’s structure, providing protection not just on the surface but within the material itself. That’s key for reliable, long-term safety.
Even better, you can do it all by yourself. The method is somehow similar to painting – smooth, simple, and doesn’t require any technical skills. The only thing you’ll be changing is the cork’s safety, not its appearance.
Opting for a water-based fire retardant is a smart choice. You avoid strong chemical odours and reduce exposure to harmful fumes. It’s far safer to work with and much more pleasant during application.
