CORK ROLL OR CORK SHEET – WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Cork rolls are great for larger projects because they give you a continuous surface with fewer seams. Just remember to flatten the roll before use by unrolling it and placing a heavy object on top for a few hours.

Cork sheets are better for smaller applications, as they don’t need to be flattened before use.

DO YOU OFFER SELF-ADHESIVE CORK FOR WALLS?

Yes, we provide self-adhesive cork rolls, making installation quick and easy.

IS CORK ROLL SUITABLE FOR A CORKBOARD?

Yes, but for making a practical corkboard, we recommend rolls with a thickness between 5 and 10 mm.

WHAT MATERIAL CAN I PAIR WITH 2MM CORK ROLL?

Thin cork pairs well with softboard, styrofoam, or cardboard.

HOW CAN I PRECISELY CUT CORK?

Cork can be cut using standard tools like a knife or scissors, depending on the material’s thickness. Use a sharp blade for thicker cork, and consider templates for accurate cutting of decorative pieces or gaskets.

CAN I PAINT NATURAL CORK?

Yes, cork rolls for walls can be painted to match your interior design. We suggest using our cork paints.

WHY SHOULD NATURAL CORK BE ACCLIMATISED BEFORE INSTALLATION?

It’s important to acclimatise natural cork for 72 hours before installation so it can adapt to the room’s environment, reducing the chance of warping. Skipping this step could result in the cork peeling or coming off the wall.

HOW SHOULD I INSTALL NATURAL CORK ON THE WALL?

We recommend using contact adhesive like Wakol D-3540.

Follow these installation steps:

Surface preparation: Ensure the wall is clean, dry, and smooth.

Apply adhesive: Spread Wakol D-3540 adhesive on both the cork roll and the wall, using a roller or brush to ensure even coverage. Use 150-250 g/m² of adhesive, which means 0.8 kg covers about 4 m², and 2.5 kg covers around 12.5 m².

Let it sit: Wait for the adhesive to turn transparent before applying the cork to the wall.

Install: Carefully press the cork roll onto the wall, making sure to plan the layout beforehand. The adhesive will take about 24 hours to fully set.

CAN 2MM CORK ROLL APPLIED TO UNEVEN WALLS?

We advise against applying cork to uneven walls. For the best results, ensure the surface is smooth, clean, and level.

HOW EASY IS IT TO CLEAN NATURAL CORK?

Cork is very easy to clean – just use a damp cloth or a feather duster. Its anti-static properties also help repel dust, making maintenance hassle-free.

IS CORK SUITABLE FOR BATHROOMS AND KITCHENS?

Cork works well in rooms with humidity between 40% and 60%, but avoid letting it get soaked, as excessive moisture can damage it.

HOW CAN I PROTECT AND SEAL NATURAL CORK?

To keep cork protected, use wood finishes like waxes, varnishes, stains, or oils. For wall cork, consider our cork care wax, or you can find varnishes at your local hardware store.
