Thicker rolls (2–4 mm) are perfect for use as decorative layers for walls or boards. These are not suitable for pinning but make great anti-slip mats or seals.

WHICH IS BETTER – 4MM CORK ROLL OR CORK SHEET?

Cork rolls are ideal for larger projects because they minimise seams and provide a smooth, continuous surface. Just make sure to unroll and flatten them for a few hours before use.

Cork sheets are better for smaller projects as they don’t require flattening like rolls do.

DO YOU OFFER SELF-ADHESIVE CORK FOR WALLS?

Yes, we supply self-adhesive cork rolls, which makes installation quicker and easier.

IS CORK ROLL SUITABLE FOR MAKING A CORKBOARD?

Yes, but for creating a fully functional corkboard, we recommend using cork that’s between 5 and 10 mm thick.

WHAT MATERIALS CAN BE PAIRED WITH CORK?

Natural cork pairs well with softboard, foam board, or cardboard.

HOW CAN I CUT CORK PRECISELY?

Cork rolls can be cut easily with everyday tools like a knife or scissors, depending on the thickness. For thicker cork, a sharp blade is best for clean cuts. Templates can also help with precision cutting for decorative elements or gaskets.

CAN YOU PAINT 4MM CORK ROLL?

Yes, cork rolls can be painted to fit your décor. We recommend using our paints for cork.

WHY SHOULD I ACCLIMATISE CORK BEFORE INSTALLATION?

It’s crucial to acclimatise cork for 72 hours before installation so it can adjust to the room’s conditions. This helps to prevent the cork from warping or coming off the wall later on.

HOW DO I INSTALL CORK ROLLS ON THE WALL?

We recommend using contact adhesive, such as Wakol D-3540.

Steps for installation:

Prepare the wall: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and even.

Apply the adhesive: Apply Wakol D-3540 to both the cork roll and the wall, using a roller or brush to ensure even coverage. Use around 150-250 g/m² of adhesive. A 0.8 kg tin covers approximately 4 m², while 2.5 kg covers around 12.5 m².

Wait: Allow the adhesive to turn clear before applying the cork to the wall.

Apply the cork roll: Carefully press the cork roll onto the wall, planning the layout beforehand. The adhesive will fully set in about 24 hours.

CAN CORK ROLLS BE USED ON UNEVEN WALLS?

We don’t recommend using cork rolls on uneven walls. For a long-lasting result, the surface should be smooth, clean, and level.

IS IT EASY TO KEEP CORK CLEAN?

Cleaning cork is simple – just wipe it down with a damp cloth or a feather duster. Its anti-static properties help to naturally repel dust, making maintenance a breeze.

IS CORK SUITABLE FOR KITCHENS AND BATHROOMS?

Cork works well in rooms with a humidity level of 40-60%. However, avoid exposing cork to excessive moisture, as it may degrade over time.

HOW CAN I PROTECT NATURAL CORK?

To protect cork, we recommend using wood treatments such as waxes, varnishes, or oils. For wall cork, you can use our cork care wax. Suitable varnishes are also available at most DIY stores.
