You probably have a few questions – let us answer them!

FINE, MEDIUM AND COARSE-GRAIN CORK – WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Fine-grain cork sheets are the smoothest, most flexible, and resistant to crumbling. If you need a material that’s easy to work with and allows for precise cutting, fine-grain cork is your best bet. It’s commonly used in the production of promotional gadgets, technical gaskets, coasters, or shoe insoles. Its smooth surface also makes it ideal as a decorative and protective wall layer.

Medium-grain cork sheets are the middle-ground option – not as smooth as fine-grain cork, but not as rough as the coarse variety. They’re widely used for pin boards, notice boards, display cases, and partition walls that double as a space for pinning notes.

Coarse-grain cork sheets have the roughest, most porous, and technical-looking surface. They’re mainly used for acoustic and thermal insulation – for example, on walls and ceilings – as well as in technical applications.

HOW TO INSTALL SELF ADHESIVE CORK SHEETS?

Fitting cork sheets is simple: just position the panel where you want it, peel off the protective layer from the adhesive backing, and press the cork firmly into place. Make sure to apply pressure evenly, especially along the edges.

Before you begin, keep these two important tips in mind:

  1. The self-adhesive layer is only suitable for smooth, flat, clean, and dust-free surfaces – such as plasterboard or furniture-grade boards.
  2. Leave the panels in the room where you plan to install them for 72 hours beforehand. Cork is a natural material and needs time to adjust to the room’s conditions – otherwise, it may shrink or peel away after mounting.

CAN I STICK SELF ADHESIVE CORK SHEETS ONTO UNEVEN WALLS?

No, we don’t recommend it. Cork may peel off when applied to uneven or textured surfaces – even if they’re only slightly rough. Self-adhesive sheets are designed for smooth, flat, clean, and dust-free surfaces.

IS THE ADHESIVE STRONG ENOUGH?

Yes, the self-adhesive layer provides a durable and secure hold on smooth surfaces. As long as the surface is properly prepared – clean, dry, and dust-free – the cork adheres firmly and does not require any additional glue.

CAN I CUT SELF-ADHESIVE FINE-GRAIN CORK?

Yes, fine-grain cork is suitable for cutting. For best results, use a sharp cork knife.

SELF ADHESIVE CORK SHEETS OR ROLLED CORK – WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

If you're planning to cover a larger area, rolled cork is more practical – it allows you to cover big surfaces with fewer visible seams. On the other hand, cork sheets are better suited to smaller projects, where joins aren’t much of a concern.

ARE THE SHEETS SUITABLE AS UNDERLAY OR FLOOR FINISH?

For flooring purposes, it’s best to opt for a dedicated cork underlay or cork flooring.

CAN CORK SHEETS BE USED IN HUMID ROOMS?

Yes, cork can be used in humid environments as long as the humidity remains within a 40–60% range. Cork is naturally resistant to moisture and mould thanks to suberin, a substance that acts as a water-repellent barrier.

However, in areas exposed to higher levels of moisture, it's best to protect the cork with an additional layer of waterproof varnish. Make sure to choose varnishes that are cork-friendly to maintain the material's integrity and appearance.

IS SELF ADHESIVE CORK SUITABLE FOR A HALLWAY?

Absolutely! Compared to paint or wallpaper, cork sheets perform much better in hallways:

  • Paint tends to fade, chip, and requires regular touch-ups over time.
  • Wallpaper is more prone to damage and peeling.
  • Cork retains its appearance and properties for years. It doesn't fade as quickly as paint and is more durable than wallpaper.

ARE CORK SHEETS SAFE FOR ALLERGY SUFFERERS?

Yes, cork is a natural material that doesn’t attract dust or mites, and doesn’t emit harmful substances. Thanks to the presence of suberin – a naturally occurring compound in cork – it offers antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping to prevent the growth of mould and microorganisms.

HOW DO I CLEAN NATURAL CORK?

Cleaning natural cork is simple – just use a damp soft cloth and/or a mild detergent with a neutral pH. Avoid harsh cleaning agents, as they can damage the cork’s surface.

CAN CORK SHEETS BE PAINTED?

Yes, for the best results, use paints for cork – these offer superior coverage and durability. Apply at least two coats to achieve an even colour, solid coverage, and a lasting finish. This painting kit will make the process easier and help you get a smooth result.

IS SELF-ADHESIVE FINE-GRAIN CORK SUITABLE FOR MAKING NOTICE BOARDS?

Medium-grain cork is actually the better choice for this purpose. Its surface is more resistant to repeated pinning and removal of pushpins. Fine-grain cork can still be used, but it’s best suited as a decorative layer on top of an existing board rather than as the primary pinning surface.

IS NATURAL CORK SUITABLE FOR MAKING GASKETS?

Yes, thanks to its natural flexibility and durability, cork easily conforms to various surfaces while resisting pressure. It can be cut into a wide range of shapes – even non-standard ones. Natural cork is used in many applications, from simple household gaskets to technical components such as those found in the automotive industry.

DO YOU OFFER LARGER CORK FORMATS?

If cork sheets feel too small for your needs, we recommend choosing rolled cork instead.

Self-adhesive cork is a brilliantly convenient option. It’s lightweight, aesthetic, and easy to install – just peel off the protective layer, press it into place, and you’re done. No need to hunt down glue or mess about with tools – installation takes just moments, leaving you with more time for yourself (be it a coffee break or your favourite series).

#1 PREMIUM CORK QUALITY

Fine-grain cork sheets far surpass the mass-produced options you’ll find in chain stores. We use only proven natural cork – not cheap, low-grade material that looks good in photos but falls apart after a few weeks. Our panels are designed for long-term use, built to stand the test of time.

We understand that every project is unique, which is why we offer a wide range of cork boards – making it quick and easy to find the right fit for your needs. Standard store selections often consist of just a few basic options that don’t always suit the job. Fine-grain cork isn’t a material that “might work somehow” – it’s a high-quality solution you can count on.

#2 EASY INSTALLATION – NO GLUE, NO MESS

You probably know the drill: you start a home project and problems crop up straight away. You’re searching for the right glue, laying down protective sheets, putting on gloves, prepping tools – maybe even taping off the area. Then there’s the adjusting, the sheet shifting out of place, quick fixes here and there – and after hours of work, you’re left with a mess.

With self-adhesive cork sheets, none of that hassle exists. Everything runs smoothly – peel off the protective layer, press the panel to the wall, and you’re done. Even if it’s your first time, you’ll manage with ease. It’s a solution that saves you stress, time, and all the usual mess.

#3 AN ECO-FRIENDLY CHOICE THAT MAKES SENSE

Cork is one of the most natural and environmentally friendly materials available. It’s harvested from the bark of the cork oak tree, which regenerates itself every 9 to 12 years – with no need to fell the tree. Even better, cork oaks absorb up to five times more CO₂ than other tree species. That means every cork panel doesn’t just avoid harming the environment – it actively supports it.

Just look around – we’re already surrounded by plastic, laminates, and cheap panels that end up in landfill. Cork offers something refreshingly different: simple, natural, and biodegradable. It might be a small step, but it’s a genuine change for the better.

#4 PERFECT FOR PRINTING

Fine-grain cork has one more practical advantage – its smooth surface makes it ideal for high-quality printing. Whatever you print on, it will look professional: vibrant colours, sharp edges, and clear detail. It’s a fantastic choice for creating unique business cards, invitations, plaques, or personalised designs.

The even texture of fine-grain cork allows ink to distribute evenly without bleeding, ensuring a cleaner visual result and longer-lasting print quality.
