Questions? We’ve got the answers!

HOW TO INSTALL 3D CORK PANELS FOR WALL?

  1. Start with the basics – the adhesive. We recommend Wakol D-3540. Of course, there are other options (like wood adhesives) that might work, but results can be hit or miss. Over more than a decade of working with cork, we’ve tested dozens of adhesives, and Wakol D-3540 has consistently come out on top.
  2. Give your cork time to acclimatise – at least 72 hours in the target room. This helps prevent corners from peeling or panels bulging after installation.
  3. Once the cork has settled, prep the surface – it should be clean, dry and free of any contaminants.
  4. Now for the adhesive. Wakol has a consumption rate of around 150–250 g/m² – apply it to both the wall and the back of the cork panels. For a smooth, even layer without lumps, use a short-pile velour roller.
  5. Wait until the glue becomes transparent on both the panels and the wall. Only then should you start attaching the panels, pressing them into place.
  6. Now it’s just a matter of waiting – Wakol adhesive takes about 24 hours to fully bond the cork to the surface.

If you prefer a simpler solution, go for decorative cork with a self-adhesive layer. Just remember – this option is only suitable for smooth, flat, clean, and dust-free surfaces (such as plasterboard or furniture boards).

DO 3D DECORATIVE CORK WALL TILES HAVE INSULATING PROPERTIES?

Yes – cork naturally helps warm up cold walls and reduces annoying echoes. It also adds a sense of warmth visually, making the room feel cosier. It’s hard to achieve the same effect with cold ceramic tiles, even if they feature a trendy designer pattern.

IS CORK 3D WALL DECOR A DURABLE MATERIAL?

Yes – 3D cork handles everyday conditions very well. It doesn’t fade, peel off, or attract dust (it’s antistatic), and thanks to its porous texture, any minor scratches that might occur through daily use are far less noticeable than on smooth walls. Under normal use – with no frequent furniture shuffling or scrubbing – cork lasts for many years.

By comparison, paint tends to get dirty quickly (especially light shades), and wallpaper often shows creases, peeling edges or tears – sometimes just a few months in.

ARE 3D PANELS SAFE FOR ALLERGY SUFFERERS?

Yes – cork is considered one of the most hygienic materials for interiors where allergy sufferers live. It’s natural, doesn’t attract dust, and doesn’t support the growth of dust mites. It’s an excellent choice for homes where a clean environment is a priority. Cork also has antibacterial and antifungal properties.

HOW TO CLEAN 3D CORK WALL TILES?

Cleaning them is very simple – for light dirt, a damp cloth or a soft-bristled broom will do the job. If you come across more stubborn stains, use a mild cleaning agent with a neutral pH.

Just remember to avoid harsh detergents – they can damage natural cork.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of aesthetic perfectionism – “everything must look like a showroom.” But then the thought creeps in: doesn’t this feel a bit like a doctor’s office? A sterile kind of perfection that lacks a homely touch. 3D cork, though modern and designer in style, brings warmth and ease to an interior. It combines an organic material with a spatial, three-dimensional form that plays with light and shadow. It draws attention without bringing the clinical chill of a laboratory.

Some materials only need to be touched once and fingerprints are already visible – especially around light switches, doors, or in the hallway. And then it’s the same daily routine of cleaning those spots just to stop them from looking permanently grubby. Cork is much more practical – handprints don’t show, and if anything does get dirty, a quick wipe with a damp cloth is all it takes.

Cork is a refreshing change, especially when we think back to the trends of just a few years ago. There was a time when plastic 3D panels were all the rage. But times have changedand so have our expectations. Today, we want more than just visual impact – we want authenticity. And that’s exactly what 3D decorative cork offers: depth, texture, and something plastic can never provide – a warm, pleasant feel.

Great looks are just the beginning – but a sustainable, sensible material is the real foundation. Cork isn’t just about aesthetics – it’s natural and renewable, and harvesting it doesn’t require cutting down trees (only the bark is removed). And while we might not think about it every day, there’s something comforting about surrounding ourselves with materials that not only look good but also align with our values.
