Cork flooring is an excellent choice – natural, warm, and pleasant underfoot. However, even cork needs the right finish. After all, everyday foot traffic, moving chairs, or bringing in grains of sand can take their toll. WS EasyFinish Parquet Varnish for Cork Floor creates a semi-matt layer that protects cork from wear while preserving its natural look for years. We’ve tested it on our own cork floor at home, so we know it works.

Long-Lasting Protection
You probably have a few questions – let us answer them!
WHAT IS PARQUET VARNISH FOR CORK FLOOR USED FOR?
Primarily, to keep cork looking good for longer and to make it more durable to everyday wear and tear. The varnish forms a durable protective layer, helping the cork stay in great condition for years.
WHICH SURFACES CAN CORK TILE VARNISH BE USED ON?
It is suitable for cork and wooden parquets. Cork is naturally porous, allowing the varnish to penetrate its structure and create a durable protective layer. It’s ideal for areas with regular foot traffic, such as living rooms, hallways, and kitchens.
Important: only apply the varnish to bare cork. If the floor has already been varnished (either when purchasing or previously at home), the new coat will not adhere properly.
WHAT FINISH DOES NATURAL CORK VARNISH PROVIDE?
A semi-matt finish. This creates a subtle, elegant look. Semi-matt hides minor scratches and dust better than a high gloss, while still keeping the floor’s appearance natural.
CAN I APPLY CORK FLOOR FINISH MYSELF?
Yes – it’s a single-component varnish, meaning it’s ready to use straight from the container. There’s no need to mix it with a hardener or catalyst (as with two-component varnishes). It’s simpler, quicker, and there’s no risk of getting the proportions wrong.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE THE SURFACE BEFORE APPLYING THE VARNISH?
The floor should be smooth and dry – ideally, the material’s moisture content should be below 12% to ensure good adhesion.
Remove any old finishes, including oil, grease, wax, silicone, dust, and other dirt. The cleaner the surface, the better the result and the longer-lasting the coating.
HOW DO I APPLY SEMI MATT VARNISH?
- Shake the varnish well before starting.
- If the cork has been glued to the subfloor, wait until the adhesive is completely dry.
- Apply three coats of varnish using a roller. After the first coat, leave the floor overnight to allow moisture to evaporate and the cork to stabilise. This ensures the coating has the right thickness and durability. Before applying the final coat, lightly sand the surface.
WHAT IS THE COVERAGE OF WS EASYFINISH?
On average, between 80 and 120 ml per 1 m², depending on the absorbency of the surface and the application method. This range refers to a single coat – total usage will increase when applying the recommended three coats.
DO I NEED TO DILUTE THE VARNISH?
No – the varnish is ready to use straight after opening and should not be diluted.
HOW SHOULD I STORE PARQUET VARNISH FOR CORK FLOOR?
Ideally, keep it at room temperature (or slightly cooler), but always above +5°C. Protect it from frost, as it is a water-based varnish.
Want to protect your cork floor but worried that varnish might spoil its natural charm? Excessive gloss, an artificial “plastic” look, or visible streaks can all ruin its appearance. A semi-matt varnish enhances its texture while protecting it from everyday wear and tear.

#1 GIVES CORK THE CARE IT DESERVES
Cork is not fussy, but it does appreciate being treated with the right products. This varnish is one of them. Not every varnish is suitable – some are too rigid or fail to bond properly with the surface, leaving the protective layer ineffective.
WS EasyFinish is a water-based varnish, so you won’t get that strong, lingering smell you often find with solvent-based products. It dries faster and is gentler on the cork itself. There’s no risk of solvents “irritating” the material or spoiling its natural colour.
#2 QUALITY AND STYLE
Although WS EasyFinish is single-component and easier to use, it doesn’t fall short of two-component varnishes. When applied, it doesn’t leave build-up along the edges, and once dry, the surface is smooth and even.
The coating keeps cork looking like new for a long time. In a semi-matt finish, cork retains an elegant, natural look, and minor marks are far less noticeable than on high-gloss surfaces.
#3 EVERYDAY CONVENIENCE
Properly protecting cork is essential. Varnish works a bit like a raincoat – water runs off the surface, while the material underneath stays dry. The same applies here: dirt stays on the varnish layer and doesn’t penetrate the cork.
This protection means less effort when cleaning. A quick wipe is enough – no need for harsh chemicals or scrubbing. Less time spent on maintenance = more time to relax. And you can be confident your floor will look great, even with daily use.
