10mm

Not every project can be done with a thin layer of cork. Sometimes you need something thicker that offers more than just a light covering. This is especially true if you're planning to make your own noticeboard for everyday use. In these cases, 10 mm Cork Roll gives you more possibilities. You don't have to adapt your idea to fit pre-cut sheets – you have cork in one continuous piece, which means fewer joins.

What’s Worth Knowing?

WHAT CAN YOU USE A 10 MM CORK ROLL FOR?

A 10 mm layer of cork is already fairly thick. It is particularly useful where thinner material might not be enough. You can use it, for example, to make a cork noticeboard, where you regularly pin up and take down notes, or as a thicker protective layer for a wall. It is also a good thickness for DIY projects where you need something more substantial than a thin cork covering.

WHEN SHOULD I CHOOSE THICKER CORK FOR A NOTICEBOARD?

A lot depends on how often you plan to use your noticeboard. We generally recommend cork between 5 and 10 mm thick, depending on how frequently it will be used. A thicker layer stands up better to regularly pushing in drawing pins, pinning up notes and taking them down. So, if you know your noticeboard will be used almost every day, it's worth choosing a 10 mm thick cork.

HOW DO I FIX A CORK ROLL TO A WALL?

First of all, make sure the surface is properly prepared. The wall should be flat, clean, dry and free from dust, with no old wallpaper or flaking paint. Before installation, it's also worth leaving the cork in the room for around 72 hours to allow it to acclimatise to the conditions. For bonding, it's best to use an adhesive specifically designed for cork, such as Wakol D-3540.

Cork comes from the bark of the cork oak tree, which is harvested without cutting down the tree. Only the outer layer of bark is removed, and it naturally grows back over time. This makes cork a renewable material. It's one of those materials that has been part of our everyday lives for centuries, yet continues to find new uses.

In roll form, it becomes even more versatile. You can unroll it, cut it to the size you need and adapt it to different surfaces. Use it for simple decorations, crafts, wall coverings or more. You're not limited to pre-cut sheets or standard dimensions.
